He notably assisted Thomson in the merger acquisition of Reuters in order to form Thomson Reuters, with the group’s main holding location being Luxembourg and also assisted Chase Manhattan in the merger acquisition of JP Morgan in order to form their main holding company in Luxembourg.

As an expert, Alain represented the Ministry of Finance in various State Aid discussions with the Brussels Commission. Former réviseur d’entreprises and former expert-comptable, he headed the tax practice at Price Waterhouse Luxembourg until 1996. He has been an Associate Professor of taxation at the University of Luxembourg since 1994 and is member of the European Association of Tax Law Professors, the International Fiscal Association (IFA) and the Luxembourg Institute of Chartered Accountants (IRE).

Alain is author of various books (10+) and articles (60+) on Luxembourg accounting, tax and company law.
